HYBRID is the exhibition program at BKN/Björkö Konstnod. It is a transformative, dynamic space for art that engages with life and nature; a space for developing concepts of community and poetic investigations.

HYBRID seeks to explore and interpret possibilities beyond the violence of algorithms, egoism, deforestation, water preservation, life/living in costal setting, narrowmindedness and repression. From its core HYBRID extends to sites indoors and outdoors on or off the island.

Keywords: asymmetry, entanglement, beyond violence, not-knowing, desire, nature, responsibility, deep listening, close seeing.

This year we do on island exhibitions again and are aiming at participating in Supermarket Art Fair in Stockholm.

For 2023 we focus on off island project among them the annual exhibition in public space in Norrtälje called Art In The River (Konst I ån) and an exhibition with DasEssZimmer in Bonn, Germany. In addition to open studios, presentations and collaborations with SWAN and NAN.

At Supermarket HYBRID presents the exhibition ”Healing Powers” (aka PUNK NATURE), drawing from slow resistance and counter publics towards healing powers. The works are results of new collaborations in the curated production clusters during stays at AiR BKN. In the exhibition we also present works by individual artists in media such as: video/performance/installation/sculpture/graphic art/painting.

A continuation of "Healing Powers" takes place late summer as a process based exploration ”Magnitude”. The program is grant based and holds 4 international artists and 1 Swedish based. It Is made possible with collaboration from Swedish Arts Grants Committee and Region Stockholm

In the northern archipelago of Stockholm one finds the island Björkö, where artists and the local community initiated BKN studio spaces in 2020. Originally set out as a project to create studio space, it soon came to include a residence program, artist presentations, art education, screenings and exhibitions.

HYBRID and BKN are concepts by the artist run non profit organization Björkö Konstnod
